Curriculum Intent

At Marvels Lane Primary School, our curriculum is designed to inspire enthusiasm for learning, to ensure achievement and to support pupil well-being and happiness. We seek to develop the whole child: Academically, Creatively, Socially and Personally.

Our curriculum aims to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum in a broad and balanced way. Our cross-curricular approach enables our children to make meaningful links with their learning whilst, as they move through the school, the progression of knowledge and skills ensures that new experiences are built upon prior learning. We aim to challenge the most able whilst providing a range of interventions for those that need support.

To enhance every topic, we have developed a rich and varied menu of irresistible opportunities, both locally and further afield, which children are entitled to experience before they complete year 6. It is important to us, that these experiences are constantly evaluated and improved.

Our Values Education, taught through assemblies, circle time and PSHE lessons, seeks to promote attitudes which reflect positive members of our community, whilst our Gem Powers develop those skills required for good learning; both of which prepare our children for future learning and success.

Our curriculum acknowledges success for all children, in all aspects of their development and it recognises, encourages and celebrates all types of talent – in other words to Be The Best That They Can Be.
